Brown Sugar Fruit (Sapodilla) (2 lb)

Sapodilla is an evergreen tree native to southern Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. It is also known as nispero, zopota, or naseberry. These trees' fruits are highly valued for their malt-like flavor. Because of its soft, brown flesh with notes of caramel, cinnamon, and molasses, sapodilla is also known as the brown sugar fruit.

Make sure to only eat ripe Sapodilla fruit, since the unripe ones are very bitter and astringent. Simply cut this kiwi sized fruit into two halves when it turns soft, then scoop the flesh using a spoon and discard the seeds.
