About this product
Cacao Fruit (also known as cocoa) is a tropical fruit native to the Amazon and Orinoco rivers' rainforests. Cacao is best known for cocoa beans, which are converted into cocoa butter, cacao powder, and most importantly, chocolate. When a fresh cacao pod is cut open, many individual beans the size of larger coat buttons are revealed, each covered in a thick, edible white fruit pulp, which has a tangy but sweet taste with a slight floral flavor similar to cherimoya.
Cacao is ready to eat as soon as it arrives. The sweet flesh of the cacao pod's seeds can be eaten. The seeds can also be consumed raw but they can be quite intense. To make cacao nibs, roast or thoroughly dehydrate the seeds before pulsing them in a food processor or blender.
