Chikuwa is a Japanese fish cake made by molding a fish batter around a bamboo stick, then grilled or steamed. The stick gets removed later, creating this tube shape. Chikuwa often eaten on its own as a snack, and it can also be sliced and used as an ingredient in stews and Japanese curries.
