Kabocha squash has a yellow-orange flesh that resembles that of a pumpkin or sweet potato when cooked. In Japan, it is commonly incorporated in a sweet soup that is known for boosting the immune system on the colder months. We like to eat it steamed and as is, cut in big chunks.
This is a medium variety, with each kabocha weighing ~3.0-3.9 lb.
