Kawai Kyotsuru Yokan (Japanese Jelly Candy)

Yokan is a traditional Japanese jelly candy made of read bean paste, sugar, and agar. Each piece has a firm texture and is delicious paired with tea! Imported from Japan; delicately packaged and wrapped for gifting!

Yokan was inspired from Chinese jelly candy that was made using gelatin. It was brought to Japan during the Kamakura-Muromachi period by a Buddhist monk who was studying in China who replaced the gelatin with agar to make it a vegan-friendly treat.
